February

It's hard to believe that February is almost over, and we have less than two months of classes remaining! This month has been filled with hard work as well as plenty of fun experiences. I experienced my first Mardi Gras here in New Orleans, which was a blast in many unexpected ways and an experience that I'll never forget. In relation to classes, we finished our final Brain and Behavior block, and are currently preparing for the NBME Shelf Exam that's coming up in a few weeks. It's been interesting to review all of our Med Pharm material from the entire year, going back all the way to July to prepare for this exam. The process of studying has made me realize that we have all come so far in our knowledge of pharmacology, and it's been interesting to revisit some of the areas that we focused on several months ago and still be able to recall details from past blocks. While I still have a fair amount of reviewing to do for the exam, I feel fairly confident that I'll be able to recall a majority of the material by the time the exam comes, considering we've been tested on it all before. However, it'll be interesting to take this exam in a different format, as the exam questions and testing platform are all based off of the NMBE assessments.

I've continued to volunteer weekly with Edible Schoolyard, and I'm enjoying the routine of escaping to work in the garden every Thursday afternoon. In addition to my gardening work, I'm also hoping to get involved in some of the other events held by Edible Schoolyard, as a way to get even more involved and supplement some of my hours.
