December

It's starting to feel a little more like winter here in New Orleans, as we had some snow here just the other day! I can't believe the semester is already coming to an end, with our final Brain and Behavior block exam next week! I've really enjoyed the material this block, as it reminds me of Abnormal Psychology from undergrad, but with more emphasis on the neurobiological underpinnings of various disorders and their treatments. However, I'm excited to be finished and to spend the holidays with friends and family soon!

For volunteering this month, I participated in a Habitat for Humanity build for the first time, as well as continued my weekly volunteering with Edible Schoolyard. Habitat was an interesting experience, as I haven't had much experience related to building a house, and I felt that I learned a lot and made a tangible impact. We spent most of the day placing siding on the walls and building window frames, which proved to be more challenging than expected. At Edible Schoolyard, I've gotten more comfortable completing tasks independently, and also enjoy observing the gardening classes taught during my gardening shifts!

December Hours: 14
